Phase 2: Tee Shirt Design Contest May 1 - 21, 2010

Winner

Winner: Live - by Syros Chan

Winner: Syros Chan

Syros' words:

"Living Alive is a campaign that promotes positive living values in youth. Upon hearing this T-shirt design contest, colourful and intricate design ideas immediately came into my mind. From the very beginning, what I thought would represent youth is the liveliness. By incorporating intricate designs such as patterns and symbols, I want to show the livelihood of youth. I made the characters and all the patterns jump out of the circle because I want to show the idea of jumping out of one's bubble; comfort zone. As a teen myself, I believe breaking out of one's comfort zone can provide a lot of opportunities. Then it's up to each individual to choose which way to go, since everyone is just like the arrows in my design; going different ways. The waves and stars symbolizes the rough and smooth times in a teen's life. Even though there will be a lot of tough times but those times also help shape your life. The more you jump out, the more you'll see, experience and learn."

Audience Choice

Audience Choice: Rainbow Doll - by Joanna Kwok

Audience Choice Award: Joanna Kwok

Joanna's words:

"I've spent quite some time trying to figure out what Living Alive means to me. I knew that it involves stepping out and breaking out of my comfort zone but knowing it is easy while doing it is much harder. My T-shirt design reflects people in different stages of living alive. Every one of them has something precious within them, but not all realize of its existence. I've used rainbows to represent that precious something. Through the living example of others, the help and encouragement from others, those who did not realize their rainbow begin to take a step and release it from within. This process may involve struggles but in the end, they will be able to live it out. Finally, I've shaped the rainbows in puzzle pieces, because I believe there's a bigger rainbow out there that requires everyone's rainbow piece to complete."
